Is anyone else a little bummed with all the animated movies coming out lately? Everything's just so...bland. It's either some overly-detailed CG animal adventure, or pop-culture, Family Guy parody of popular fairy tales. I mean, isn't animation an art? Where are the animated movies with the jaw-dropping imagery of Fantasia, or the poigniant humanity of Grave of the Fireflies? Of course, the exception to this rule is always Pixar, but even they tend to limit themselves a bit. I guess I just wanna see animation branch out a bit. I love Disney family flicks, and I don't want to see them stop, but I'd love to see animation used in other ways too.
